Writer/producer- Doug Gazlay- has written songs since he was a youngster in church.   The first arrangement he penned was for his high school musical- The Wizard of Oz.   Cast as the Cowardly Lion, he noticed the song "IF I WERE KING OF THE FOREST" was missing from the musical score.   So, he "lifted" it (wrote out the notes while listening) from a recording his parents had made  from the TV when he was a child and the song was added back into the show.
His early work as a music arranger and scorer for his college group- The Jackson Community College Starfleet Ambassadors- landed him a full scholarship to the college.   His arrangements were so remarkably fresh that the community group received an invitation to be the featured performers at a National Educators dinner in Washington, D.C.. in 1984.   The college troupe was also invited to the "Tomorrowland" Stage in Disney World, Florida.   Both venues were perfect outlets for Doug's original music.   In 1984, his greatest thrill was the invite to pen and score his original song FOR ME, IT WON'T BE CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR, which he performed vocally while seated at a 12-foot Steinway Grand piano surrounded and accompanied by the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.

His career in Atlanta has given him much room to grow as a writer, also.   He has composed music for church, a children's tape series in the 90's which was distributed world-wide, and produced music for clients for their individual projects.   Doug has produced and released 7 CDs as an artist to date with performances including just piano, meditation and Christmas music.  In late 2005, Doug Gazlay: YULETIDE FRIENDS, his collaborative Christmas CD featuring several personal friends, was released.      The title track was co-written with Marcia Sandford and Connie Forté.    His song- MABLE'S CHRISTMAS (2005), a reinvention of a 1992 version, was released on Paul Davis's www.newchristianmusic.co.uk site with jazz singer- Amy Thorn- on lead.   It  became Doug's first Top 10  hit (#7)on that particular European Chart.  He was accepted into A.S.C.A.P. in 2005 as a writer and music publisher- thus Gazlay Music, Co. was born.

He is currently the Founder of the  Hit Song Factory, which is an "invitation only" group of writers in the Atlanta area.   Doug also collaborates with writers in the Atlanta, as well as Nashville, TN, and offers music theory tutoring to help musicians sharpen their reading and writing skills.
